BJP intending candidate of 45-Chingai (ST) assembly constituency, Ningam Chamroy, IAS (retired) accorded warm blessing on Friday at his native Halang village in their bid to let him officially kick-start his political journey with a blessing.
The intending candidate was bestowed the act of blessing of the village by Wungmaling Huileng, headman Halang village while special prayer was pronounced by Revd. Ephrain Shaiza, Pastor Halang Baptist Church.
Hosted by Halang village authority (VA) at village playground, around 1800 people drawn from different villages under Chingai assembly constituency, headmen of 33 villages and five chairmen from the area along with various BJP leaders of the district attended the blessing event.
The program began with invocation by Victory Vasah, assistant pastor Halang Ato baptist church.
Speaking at the event, Wungmaling Huileng, headman Halang village assured the area public that Ningam Chamroy have the capacity to represent and serve the Chingai constituency as people’s representative in the ensuing state election.
Appealing the area people to support and give their mandate to Chamroy as they have given him today, he assured the visiting area people that when he wins the election, his topmost priority will be Chingai constituency people and not vice versa. Second priority will be Halang village and last will be his family, he added amidst much laughter and applause from the assembled crowd.
It may be stated that former Manipur’s TA & Hills Director, IAS (retired) Ningam Chamroy officially joined BJP Manipur on 15 August (Sunday) in the presence of Manipur Pradesh BJP president Sharda Devi and other party leaders.
Speaking at the occasion, Ningam Chamroy thanked the Almighty God for his blessings and the area people for the massive support and love showered on him.
A visibly beaming Chamroy said, “Today is a very special day in my life. I plunged into politics not for any other purposes but the burning will, commitment, dream and vision to serve the people pushed me into this.”
“I decided to enter politics with the burning desire to work and serve,” he stated and reiterated his intention before the public, and appealed to fast forward the commitment, dream and vision.
“Not everyone can be people’s representative so let’s join hands together and choose our representatives wisely. Good governance lies in the hands of the people. Representative alone cannot do that. Let’s join hands together and work for victory in the 2022 state general election. Seeing the massive support shown by the people, I have firm faith and hope that victory will be ours,” Ningam added as he exuded confidence and appealed to elect a representative who would truly work for the people and stand by the people.
Highlighting that many asked about his decision of joining BJP party and its relation with religion, Chamroy said, in the Hindu land, they have RSS as they have their own religion too, like we have our own. But BJP is a political party that works for the nation, there is no doubt about it. The party ideology is “nation first, party second and self last,”

Speaking about the present health of the society, he said, “It seems our society is in a confused state. But I am not blaming anyone here. However, going by the present trends in almost all aspects including social, political, economic et al, it seems like our civil bodies (Longnao) and citizens (Ramnao-bing) are seen to be not living a dignified life; out of sync with the fast development, when compared with others,” Ningam Chamroy opined and underscored not to point fingers only at others as the problem could be because of one’s own ignorance, rather find out the causes and address it.
He continued that the Nagas have a political issue. And what we have is a political revolution. BJP is the party that has been engaging in the Naga political issue at centre. And the talk is being held at prime minister level.
The new entrant to the BJP party, Ningam Chamroy hails from Halang Village (Huining) and will contest the ensuing state election from 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency as intending BJP candidate.
Wungmatem Ahum, headman Ringui village; social worker Ngaithen Yangya, AS. Mawonshang headman Peh village, Yarthotthing Kashung, president BJP Ukhrul district, Bejoy Shatsang president BJP Chingal mandal, Charmis Chamroy president Halang Shanao Long also delivered short speech in the program.
His party induction function was graced by headman of Halang village, Wungmaling Huileng, Headman of Peh village, Mawonshang AS, Headman of Chingjaroi Khullen Solomon and Headman of Kachai village R. Mingthing Shimray.
Chamroy retired on superannuation in 2018 after serving in various capacities as Manipur state civil service and IAS officer for the last 38 years.
As part of the event special entertainment, special number from Yarshim Wungsek, Ngathingpam Tangvah, Chungsangla Jojo, Winso Chamroy enthralled the public. Halang youth also presented a cultural dance.
Chingri Hungron, secretary Halang village who presented the welcome address welcomed and thanked the public, areas headmen, chairmen and party leaders for their august presence in the special occasion.
Informing that no single person from Halang village has ever fielded as an MLA candidate, he said a candidature in the likes of Ningam Chamroy is the first of its kind in the history of the village.
Kemsi Chamroy, VA (Chamroy Pipa) delivered the vote of thanks.
Rinsophi Chamroy and Shangshawung Huileng moderated the program, while Yaomi Shangrei, Catechist St. Peter Church Halang pronounced the benediction.
