Chief minister, N Biren Singh on his visit to Tamenglong for state cabinet meeting on Friday, as part of ‘Go to Hills’ mission, inaugurated water supply project at Khoupilong, Ward No 5, Tamenglong. Biren also inaugurated 14 other developmental projects and laid foundation stones for 8 projects. Biren also distributed wheelchairs, health cards, and other benefits to the people of Tamenglong.
Biren tweeted that the water supply project is one of the most ambitious schemes taken up by the state government under ‘Go to Hills’ mission with an aim to provide safe drinking water to every household in Tamenglong District, as he thanked PM Modi.
During the inaugural function carried out at the water supply project site at Khoupilong, Executive Engineer PHED, Gaijinlung Thaimei, highlighted about the project along with video presentation.
Gaijinlung Thaimei mentioned that the project started since 2018 but due to some inconveniences including lock-down, the work got delayed. The project took 24 months to complete, he said. Along with photo presentation, he said the on-goingwater supply project at Joulen, Gadai Hills Area which is 7 km away from the main town is nearing completion with utmost effort.
After the chief minister unveiled the inaugural stone, he also visited various spots at the project site and appreciated the hard work rendered. The project is undertaken by Keystone Infrared Company under PHED Tamenglong. According to reliable source, the inaugurated water supply project cost 23.5 Crores approximately.
Biren was accompanied by cabinet ministers, including deputy chief minister Y Joykumar, Power Minister and government spokesperson Th Biswajit, Awangbou Newmai, Forest & Environment Minister, Losii Dikho, PHED Minister.
DC Tamenglong, Armstrong Pame IAS, Tamenglong ADC Chairman, Namsinrei Panmei, and other District Administration Officials and ADC Members attended the program.
