Ukhrul, July 25: In a historic achievement, the first commercial digital printing press and book publishing house has been established by Enterprises of Chihui Group in Ukhrul district on Thursday. The design and print studio has been launched under the banner ‘Changing the landscape of design & printing in Ukhrul and beyond.’

Ukhrul DC Kengoo Zuringla launched the digital printing press under the brand Colorbasket during a grand opening program held at TTA Hall, Hamleikhong, amid much fanfare. Similarly, the book publishing house was launched under the brand Bookbasket by Sword Vashum, president of Tangkhul Naga Long.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the launching program, Aran A Chihui, proprietor of Chihui Group, informed that the main objective is to bring back quality and serve the community beyond Ukhrul district in the field of book publication and printing. “We have set up one of the high-end commercial machines that will cater to local needs and provide a quality service that meets international standards,” said Chihui while sharing the group’s aspirations.

Some of the high-end machines being installed are the Konica Minolta AccurioPrint C4065 and Toyocut digital cutting machine. The total installation cost of the machines is Rs 50 lakh, said Chihui. With this, Ukhrul has become the third district in Manipur where the Konica Minolta C4065, a professional printer, has been installed.

Chihui also informed that two more professional printing machines are expected to be installed in the next six months to a year to meet customer demand and provide quality services to clients. Sharing his thoughts on the reading habits of the people in the district, Chihui said, “We are not a reading community, and that is why we are not a progressing community. I think reading is essential as the foundational element in the growth of the community and as individuals.”

“We want to encourage people to imbibe the culture of reading, and for that to happen, we need to publish good community-oriented books that are not available on other platforms. We are committed to transforming such culture and translating it into printed form for the community,” he added.

Meanwhile, lauding the Group for setting up such a professional print and design studio in the district, DC Zuringla said that such an establishment is not only a blessing for the family but also for the community.

The deputy commissioner also hoped that the Group would provide consistent, sustainable, and accessible services to the people in the district and beyond. The launching program was also attended by government officials, church leaders, village leaders from both Hungpung and Hunphun, CSO leaders, friends, and well-wishers.
