Ukhrul: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has issued a strong condemnation in response to what it describes as baseless and misleading statements made by the Meitei Heritage Society, DeMaS, and NUPI, Delhi, against Lt. Gen. PC Nair, former Director General of Assam Rifles. According to KIM, these accusations, made without credible evidence, are not only an attack on Lt. Gen. Nair’s reputation but also an attempt to tarnish the Assam Rifles, one of the key security forces working to restore peace in Manipur.
KIM’s statement pointed out that the ongoing violence in Manipur, which has tremendously impacted the Kuki-Zo people, has been fueled by misinformation spread by these organizations.
According to KIM, the violence has led to devastating losses for the Kuki-Zo community, including:
– 199 deaths
– 200+ villages burnt
– 7,000+ houses destroyed
– 360+ churches and synagogues reduced to ashes
– 41,425+ people displaced

Kuki Inpi Manipur has urged the Government of India to intervene immediately and investigate the activities of these organizations. KIM has called for central agencies like the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to launch a probe into their involvement in spreading falsehoods and inciting violence. The group also has demanded that the allegations against Lt. Gen. Nair be retracted and that an apology be issued to him.
The statement further stated that the suffering of the Kuki-Zo community cannot be ignored, and those responsible for spreading lies must be held accountable. KIM then reiterated their call for a Separate Administration for the Kuki-Zo people, stating that the increasing divide with the Meitei community shows that peaceful coexistence under a single administration is no longer viable.
