Imphal: Re-poll in six polling stations of Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary constituency of Manipur concluded peacefully on Tuesday with a turnout of almost 81.16%.
The re-polls in the six polling stations commenced from 7 am under a tight security arrangement. Apart from the state police personnel, armed Central security forces were deployed in all the polling stations where the voting was marred by violence on April 26.
The re-polls in almost all the polling stations proceeded smoothly and no untoward incidents were reported from any of the polling stations, a source in the office of the chief electoral officer (CEO) Manipur said.
From the first hours of the voting, a large number of electors turned up and stood in a beeline to exercise their franchise, they said.
At 9 am the voter turnout was registered at only 16.68 percent. However, it gradually increased and recorded 36.56% at 11 am, 55.11% at 1 pm and 74.57% at 3 pm.
The CEO office put the turnout at 81.16% at the close of the poll.

Manipur has two Lok Sabha seats and the voting for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency along with polling stations spread across 15 Assembly segments of the Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary constituency was held on April 19.
