The book depicts the anarchy of the British Empire in India, where the cloud of darkness engulfed the entire country, and how the Nagas bear brutality and inhumanity during the colonial period. It also mentions the revolt of Haipau Jadonang and how Rani Gaidinliu, barely 13 years old then, took up the torch of self-determination against the oppressive colonial authority. The book details her journey, including her arrest and exile to Yemrep, as well as her final days in Kohima under government protection before her passing at the age of 78.
The book discusses the seizure of her belongings which have become British artifacts under the possession of the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, Cambridge, and the Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford which is under active process to return to Nagaland, India under the aegis of Di Muse 4 years project.
